Quepos sits directly on the edge of some of the richest offshore fishing grounds on Costa Rica's Central Pacific — deep canyon walls close to shore mean shorter runs to sailfish, marlin, and tuna than from marinas farther north like Los Sueños or Flamingo. On a half-day charter especially, every extra 20-30 minutes of travel time is 20-30 minutes not fishing.

Marina Pez Vela vs. Los Sueños Marina

Los Sueños, near Herradura, is Costa Rica's other well-known sportfishing marina — bigger, and closer to San José for a day trip from the capital. But for anglers based in or visiting Manuel Antonio and Quepos, Marina Pez Vela means less driving, a shorter run to the fishing grounds, and a smaller, more personal marina experience. Both are excellent; the right one usually comes down to where you're staying.

Marina Pez Vela is located in downtown Quepos, about 10 minutes from most Manuel Antonio hotels and roughly 15 minutes from the local airport (XQP). We offer hotel pickup as an optional add-on for guests who'd rather not arrange their own transportation — ask when you book.
